L. Gale Lemerand Donation

This morning, Sheriff Mike Chitwood and members of the Volusia County Sheriff's Office recognized a significant contribution to the Volusia County law enforcement community from L. Gale Lemerand of Daytona Beach.

Mr. Lemerand, a longtime area businessman and philanthropist, is establishing the Gale Lemerand Education and Training Endowment Fund, which will provide $30,000 per year o

ver the next five years to fund training and educational programs for Volusia County Sheriff's Office deputies.

In a VCSO awards and recognition ceremony Wednesday morning at the Deputy Stephen Saboda Training Facility in Daytona Beach, Sheriff Chitwood thanked Mr. Lemerand on behalf of all the men and women of the agency who will benefit from his generosity.

"Mr. Lemerand has already given so much to improve the community we live in, and this extraordinary gift is just another example of his commitment to Volusia County," Sheriff Chitwood said. "The training made possible by this funding will make us an even stronger agency. We will continue to find new and innovative ways to serve and protect our county with honor and integrity."
